The Leica CM 1850 rapidly freezes material in a temperature-controlled environment.
Leica CM1850 Cryostat Features:
- It is ideal for traditional pathology applications and Mohs surgery
- Spacious Cryochamber with heated sliding window
- Enhanced insulation for better temperature control
- Rapid specimen freezing
- Ergonomic knife holder
- Easy to clean and disinfect
The operating temperature range (ambient temperature) is 18 to 40 degrees C. The temperature setting range is 0 degrees to -35 degrees C. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat has an actively cooled (-45Ā°C) specimen quick-freezing shelf with space for storing 10 specimen disks. Peltier cooling is an optional feature that quickly freezes specimens to -60Ā°C.
The Leica CM1850 cryostat has precise section qualities with its precision-crafted spindle feed and roller bearing slide. It includes a microtome that is easy to remove for quick cleaning, which minimizes the risk of infection. The CM1850 also features a built-in enclosed drain system that reduces infectious agent aerosolization.
The Leica CM1850 Cryostat is self-diagnosing, with single-board microprocessor electronics for a virtually maintenance-free operation.
It is not necessary to remove the microtome for routine cryo-chamber disinfection. The instrument is appropriate for spray disinfection with Leica Cryofect. The cryostat offers a slower forward speed that can be used with a handwheel “rocking motion” so the operator can trim excess OCT and achieve the specimenās full face.
All temperature-related specifications are valid only up to an ambient temperature of 22 degrees C and an air humidity lower than 60%.
